Asheville has again placed on a “favorite list”, this one compiled by Travel + Leisure. Noted for its “earnestly hipster heart”, Asheville lands at #10 on the list. Voters in the random survey pointed to the downtown drum circle and the Carolina barbecue as a couple of local draws. For anyone who lives in this area, we know that Asheville is much more than that.
For this year’s survey, readers ranked towns with a population of less than 100,000 based on dining, shopping, and other particulars. In addition to the items cited above, Asheville also received high scores for its live music scene as well as its other local food. The locals, that’s those of us year-rounders I suppose, were ranked as “delightfully quirky.” In short, as one survey taker noted, Asheville is “probably one of the most eclectic towns in America.”
