About
Weaverville
Weaverville's origin story begins in the Reems Creek Valley in the 1800s and was named after the Weaver family. John Weaver first came to the region in 1787. The agricultural community grew around the Weaver homestead and was eventually incorporated in 1875 as the Town of Weaverville.
Weaverville College was a highly acclaimed Methodist educational institution that operated from the 1870s to the 1930s. While the institution eventually merged with Brevard College, it established the region as a place of learning. Weaverville grew in notoriety due, in part, to its ease of access to Asheville, NC, and in other parts to its notable inhabitants.
Today, Weaverville is known for its walkable downtown with local shops, art galleries, restaurants, and breweries. It is also conveniently located to attractions of nearby North Asheville and Woodfin.
