The Ridgecrest Trailhead of the Point Lookout Trail is a highlight of life in Ridgecrest. The trail spans 3.75 miles from Ridgecrest to Old Fort and includes expansive mountain views of Royal Gorge from Point Lookout which is located about a mile in from the Ridgecrest trailhead. The paved trail was once an old road that served traffic until 1982. In addition to the hikers that utilize Point Lookout Trail, it also serves as a connection route between Ridgecrest and Old Fort for mountain bikers that are enjoying the renowned Kitsuma Trail. 

Kitsuma Trail includes over 2,000 feet of elevation change from its access point near the Ridgecrest Conference Center. The trail includes a steep climb, 14 switchbacks, and an almost 3-mile zipping downhill trail that is sure to delight mountain biking enthusiasts until it terminates at the Old Fort Picnic area which is adjacent to the Point Lookout Trail access.

While Kitsuma and Point Lookout Trail are central to Ridgecrest, the area is also located in close proximity to the Montreat trail system and Old Fort's Catawba Falls, offering boundless opportunity for exploration with very short commute times.
