My Father's Pizza and Pasta
For over 35 years, My Father’s Pizza and Pasta has been serving pizza, pasta and subs to Black Mountain residents and visitors. This family-owned restaurant is known for its fresh ingredients and an excellent beer and wine list. A rooftop area, added in 2026, offers views of town to go with your slice. Vegetarian and gluten-free options mean there’s something for everyone. Grab a Skinny Pig or My Father's Supreme pizza at 110 Cherry Street in Black Mountain.

Black Mountain Bistro
Black Mountain Bistro is locally owned by a family that has lived in the area for five generations. The menu runs from Filet Mignon to Goat Cheese Salmon at reasonable prices, and the dining room is upscale enough for a date night or special occasion. We’re partial to the Gorgonzola Cranberry Salad and the Fried Green Tomatoes served with a homemade potato cake. Reservations are accepted for groups of six or more. You’ll find it directly across the street from GreyBeard Realty at 203 East State Street.

Bush Farmhouse
Bush Farmhouse, established in 2021, serves South African-inspired food and drink in a relaxed setting, with breakfast and lunch menus featuring dishes like Bobotie, Bunny Chow and Curry and Rice. The kitchen blends local ingredients with South African flavors, including fresh and organic produce from its on-site garden and greenhouse. Guy Fieri featured Bush Farmhouse on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives (Season 55, Episode 3).
Chef and owner Mark Henegan grew up in South Africa and cooked at top New York City restaurants, including the acclaimed MADIBA, where guests included Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Sir Richard Branson, Paul Simon, Beyoncé and JAY-Z. Bush Farmhouse is located at 151 S. Ridgeway Ave. in Black Mountain.

Pure and Proper
Pure and Proper is an all-day eatery in a fully renovated Pure Oil Station, a Black Mountain landmark for more than 80 years. The building still serves as a refueling stop, now for friends, family and good conversation over food and drink. Dinner includes small plates like crispy chicken, Brussels Sprouts and Mapo Gnocchi, plus larger entrees such as Duck Leg Confit and Bone-in Lamb Rack. Reservations are recommended for dinner service. Pure and Proper is located at 114 East State Street in Black Mountain.

Phil's Bar-B-Que Pit
Phil’s Bar-B-Que Pit serves classic Southern barbecue made without shortcuts. The team starts with choice cuts, seasons them with a special blend, and cooks them slowly over oak and hickory hardwood. It’s a family-friendly spot with a casual atmosphere. We recommend the BBQ Quesadilla, fried okra along with hushpuppies. You’ll find it at 701 NC Highway 9 in Black Mountain. Phil's is open Thursday through Sunday.

Bev's Steak
One of the newer additions to Black Mountain’s restaurant scene, Bev’s Steak is an upscale, chef-owned steakhouse opened in 2025 by Jake and Ali Whitman. The space, built in the 1920s, has a dimly lit, speakeasy or wine-cellar feel and sits just off Cherry Street. Jake Whitman has cooked in top Asheville kitchens, including The Admiral, Zambra, Copper Crown and Pure & Proper. The menu blends American steakhouse cuisine with Asian flavors, with entrees like Filet Mignon, Elk Loin, Pan-Seared Salmon and Risotto. Reservations are recommended, especially for parties of 6 or more.

Foothills Grange - Black Mountain
The Foothills Grange is a sprawling, family-friendly eatery in the heart of Black Mountain, with plenty of covered outdoor seating and a small indoor space. The menu features American classics like the Classic Lil Cheeseburger, tallow fries and loaded hot dogs, plus cocktails. Kids can play in a dirt area with construction vehicles while the family eats. The Grange is owned by Casey McKissick and comes from the team behind the Foothills Butcher Shop, which opened in 2002. It has been featured in Eater, CNN, Food & Wine and the Food Network. Hell or High Water, the group’s fine-dining restaurant, is right next door. You’ll find the Grange at 120 Broadway Ave. in Black Mountain.
