Brown Cottage.The supervising architect for the Biltmore Estate, Smith’s Biltmore-style elements can be seen in his signature pebble-dashed walls, steep roofs, and Tudor-style timber framing. Given the affluent status of the neighborhood, home price points in Montford tend to be higher on average, with median listing prices sitting between $760-885K, sold prices sitting closer to $800K, and high-end homes sitting within the $1-2M range. Some cottages, with 2-3 bedrooms and 2-3 bathrooms, can dip into the $500-600K range, but larger luxury homes with ample square footage easily reach into the the millions. There are rare listings that dip below $500K, but these are often 1-2 bedroom homes or smaller condo units.

Located on the eastern side of Asheville, is the historic Grove Park neighboorhood —anchoring the Asheville community to its storied past from all sides. The Montford neighborhood is home to several parks and green spaces, including the aforementioned Magnolia Park, Montford Park (home to the Montford Park Players’ Hazel Robinson Amphitheatre along with courts for tennis and pickleball), Hummingbird Park, and the Tempie Avery Montford Community Center Park, a larger facility with playgrounds, basketball courts, and a baseball field.
