A native of Charlotte, Cecily spent many summers at camp in the NC mountains, which fostered her love for this beautiful corner of Western North Carolina. After earning her B.A. at Smith College, she earned an M.A. in Urban Public Policies from NYU and a J.D. from Duke University Law School, where she graduated with distinction.
From there, after a stint in private practice, she served as General Counsel for global medical device companies, including SCIMED, EV3, and Boston Scientific International. She also served as President of the Minneapolis Parks Foundation (a 501c(3) organization focused on enhancing Minneapolis parks for all), and AS a Senior Program Advisor at Harvard Kennedy School's Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation.
She made the move to Black Mountain three years ago and quickly fell in love with the weather, the people, and the creative culture. Throughout her adult life, Cecily has served on numerous nonprofit boards, and she continued this tradition when she came to Black Mountain. She currently serves on the boards of the White Horse and the Unitarian Universalist Church. Both organizations have been instrumental in building community and nurturing a greater sense of belonging. She has always felt that giving back to one’s community is not only a part of good citizenship but that it also feeds the soul.
Throughout her life, Cecily has worked with numerous realtors through buying and selling her own properties, giving her first-hand experience in understanding the needs of both buyers and sellers and, most importantly, what makes a good real estate agent. She has a flair for style, as well. She inherited this from her mother, who was an interior designer, and enjoys sharing her insights into design details that will set your home apart.
In her free time, Cecily enjoys reading, bicycling, cooking meals with friends, swimming, singing, and playing pickleball. She is also always open to a game of bridge or a fun board game with friends!
