This charming masterpiece is the historic Washburn Community School house, built in 1915. This brick structure replaced the former one-room wooden building. Serving the local community as its school, Washburn School was later closed around 1923 when Bostic School was built. A local doctor took residence here seeing patients in one end and living on the other end. The property is loaded with history including original hardwood floors, transom windows above the doors, and two original paving stones imbedded with Native American arrowheads the students found on the surrounding property. Built with hand made brick from the former Bostic Brickyard, it was completely renovated in 2010. It now boasts of 14 inch brick and plaster walls ornately accenting the modern home with elegant history.
