Black Mountain Expeditions is a member of the Camp Merri-Mac and Timberlake family. With over 60 years of experience, we have discovered that the wilderness is one of the greatest teachers and adventure is how we learn from it. T.S. Elliot says, “had the experience, but missed the meaning.”

The riches of the wilderness should not be only accessible to a select few. BME hopes to provide opportunity to have the experience and make the meaning. Whether you are hiking, rock climbing, or fly fishing, it is our goal that you come away with more than getting to the top of the climb, catching a fish or having a cool story to tell. We hope you that you learn about the rock you climbed on, a little history about the area, and maybe even make a connection with what you are doing and your life.

Outstanding Leadership : Black Mountain Expeditions guides are experienced professionals and proven not only in the technical skills but in, judgment, decision making, natural history, ecology, teaching and ultimately in caring for the client.

Transportation: We provide all needed transportation to the trail head from Black Mountain and back. This eliminates the head ache of shuttles, confusing directions and opens up options for routes and areas that would not otherwise be possible.

Worry free: You do not have to worry about equipment, safety, selecting the appropriate difficulty for your route or activity, food, directions or transportation. You can focus all of that energy on the new skills and adventure at hand.

Industry Standard: We actively pursue involvement with the industry standard-setting organizations in the field. These include The Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics, the American Mountain Guide Association, SOLO, Wilderness Medical Associates, the Professional Climbing Instructors Association, the American Canoe Association, the Wilderness Education Association NOLS, Outward Bound, and countless more.
